The Swiss left-winger in professional ice hockey, Kevin Fiala, is playing for Los Angeles Kings in NHL. Since then, Fiala was drafted in 2014 by Nashville Predators and has played for three teams, including the Predators, Minnesota Wild and the Kings.
Fiala is a native Swiss, although both his parent are Czech. Moreover, he was also a hockey player who played in lower leagues. After retirement, Jan-his father started coaching rookies in hockey and was the first coach of Kevin Fiala. KEVIN FIALA
In return for a first-rounder, the Wilds traded Fiala to the Kings. Michael Russo’s tweeted today saying, “According to sources, the #mnwild have traded the rights to pending restricted free agent Kevin Fiala to the #lakings for their 2022 first-round pick and University of Minnesota captain Brock Faber.”
With the scores of 85 points and 33 goals in 82 games, Fiala contributed a lot to the success of the Minnesota Wilds. With his ability of solid shots, he made himself an unbeatable left-winger. The Kings would want him to keep the same momentum and help their team become dominant.
According to different sources, Fiala has signed a long-term contract with the Kings, whose estimated worth is $7.9 million. No doubt the Wilds got a strong defenseman and first-round player from the Kings; however, they will miss Kevin Fiala due to his impressive performance as a left-winger with them.
With a score of 33 goals and 52 assists in his last season for the Wilds, Kevin Fiala attracted many franchises towards himself. Among them, LA Kings successfully acquired him, but remember that Fiala is still a free agent, and the Kings might offer him a long-term relationship.
According to the statement given by the Wilds general manager-Bill Guerin, the kings came to talk about the trade of Kevin Fiala, and they were very particular about the decision. He further added, “There was no tire-kicking or feeling-out process. They were serious immediately, so it made it easy to do a deal.”
In a statement about Kevin Fiala, Guardian said, “We’ve been down the road a couple of times with Kevin already,” furthermore, he said, “He had a great year. We just were not going to be able to do it. We knew that. They knew that. There was just no sense in trying to (mess) around … and give him a low-ball deal. I think we got fair value. I really do.”
Last year Kevin Fiala signed one year contract with the Wilds, whose worth was $5.1 million, but this time he is going to charge more than that. Fiala’s price hike is evident from his previous performance, especially in his recent season. Another reason could be that he had polished his skills more than before as a left-winger and broke all his previous records in his current season.
Fiala averaged 85 points last season, which is 12 points than Kopitar- the Kings’ top scorer.
