As basketball is becoming more and more popular among other countries across the globe, people want to know basketball court dimensions.
Basketball court dimensions vary depending on the level of games, i.e., NBA, WNBA, NCAA, High School, etc., conferring to the federation international basketball association (FIBA), basketball courts are 91.9 feet long, while their width is 49.3 feet. Since the court size varies from level to level of the game, where professional basketball court dimensions are the bigger ones, the NBA courts are 94 feet long and 50 feet wider.
WHAT ARE THE BASKETBALL COURT DIMENSIONS?
Baseball courts are of various dimensions; some are bigger, and others are smaller; moreover, the professional basketball court dimensions are the largest, whereas the high-school courts are the smallest ones. Below we will discuss them in detail, including different markings on baseball courts.
- FIBA court dimensions
So how, what are the basketball court dimensions according to FIBA? Conferring to standards devised by FIBA, the length of a basketball court is 91.9 feet, whereas their width is equal to 49.3 feet. On the other hand, the half-line of a court, according to FIBA, is 45.95 feet long.
Regarding marking, the free-throw line is 19 feet apart from the edge of a court; conversely, it becomes 15.09 feet when measured from the backboard front. According to FIBA basketball court dimensions standards, a three-point line is 22.15 feet far from the half-line.
Furthermore, these basketball court dimensions are nearly similar to that of NBA and College basketball. Still, the difference is only a few feet (including both W & L) and the customary unit they use for measurements, i.e., metric. Now, when the length and width of these courts are converted from feet to meters, the courts’ length becomes 28 meters and width 15 meters. Such courts are used for international games.
- NBA court dimensions
The dimensions of an NBA basketball court are slightly bigger when matched to the dimensions devised by FIBA because NBA courts are 94 feet in length and 50 feet in width. Moreover, the free-throw line in these courts is 19 feet from the edge, which becomes 15.09 feet from the front of the backboard. Interestingly, the space of the free-throw line is akin to NBA and FIBA.
The three-point line in NBA courts is 22 feet from the corner of the court. At the same time, the prohibited area near the hoop is 4 feet, where drawing charging fouls are not allowed.
- High school court dimensions
As mentioned earlier, high school basketball courts are the smaller basketball courts as compared to the other three levels, i.e. NBA, FIBA, and NCAA. These courts are 80 feet lengthier and 50 feet wider. Moreover, their free throw line is 19 feet from the edge of the court, and it’s15 feet from the backboard front.
Since high school basketball courts are shorter compared to the other three leagues, the three-point line is much closer to the backboard, but still, there is plenty of space for players to score points.
- NCAA BASKETBALL COURT DIMENSIONS
The NCAA basketball courts are more extensive when compared to the FIBA and High School basketball Courts because the length of NCAA courts is 94 feet and the width of 50 feet; however, these courts are similar to NBA.
Furthermore, the free-throw line is placed at a distance of 19 feet from the corner of the court, which becomes 15 feet when measured from the backboard front. Interestingly, the free-throw line’s distance is similar to NCAA, NBA, and FIBA. Finally, the three-point line is 22.15 from the court’s midpoint.
Apart from the three-point line closer to NCAA basketball courts, all other dimensions are the same in NCAA and NBA. That’s why most basketball players shift from NCAA to NBA, and they face difficulties in the beginning because they are used to smaller three-point lines in college basketball. In contrast, these three-point lines are more extensive in NBA courts by one and a half feet.

BASKETBALL COURT SIZES IN THE UK
Similar to the US, there are four levels of the game, i.e. International, Premier, Club, and community games. As you can expect, the sizes among these four leagues also vary, where the length of international basketball courts is 28 meters with a width of 15 meters.
Moreover, the length in the other three-game formats could be 26-28 meters, whereas the width can range from 14-15 meters. In English basketball courts, the maximum area could be 420m² for international games, whereas the minimum area allowed for these courts is 364m². However, this area can reach 677.31m² when 2.05m of run-offs and 2m are added for players and their teams’ management.
