MALCOLM BROGDON: MADE HIS WAY TO CELTICS

Malcolm Brogdon, also known as Malcolm Moses Adams Brogdon, was born on December 11, 1992. He is currently playing for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA. During his college game for Virginia Cavaliers, he was awarded ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) player of the year. He was also awarded the title of “Defensive Player of the year” and became the first to ever receive both awards in the same season.

With the 36th overall pick, Brogdon was drafted by the Bucks in the second round of the NBA draft in 2016. In his first NBA match for the Bucks, Brogdon won the title of “NBA Rookie of the Year” and became the first second-round pick to achieve this title. He is also ranked 8th on the list of the NBA players who earned 50–40–90.

SPECULATIONS ABOUT MALCOLM BROGDON NBA TRADE

Last week there were expectations that Malcolm would be traded sooner and become the point guard for Knicks. According to sources, New YORK Knicks were working to clear the salary cap for acquiring Jalen Brunson from Mavericks; moreover, Brunson wanted a long-term contract last season, which Mavericks failed to do. In case the Mavericks fail to offer him a long-term contract with a total worth of $55 million, then there is the probability for the Knicks to acquire him. 

Additionally, Jalen Brunson has strong ties with the Knicks because their newly hired assistant coach-Rick Brunson is his father. He also has good relations with some of the Knicks’ players, and their current president was the former agent of Brunson.

Some sources said that if the Knicks fail to acquire Brunson and Malcolm Brogdon, they can acquire Kyrie Irving.

THE KNICKS, MALCOLM BROGDON, AND PACERS RUMORS

Last week there were widespread rumors about Malcolm Brogdon’s trade as the Pacers started looking for places to trade its two players, i.e., Myles Turner (center) and Malcolm Brogdon (point guard). On the other hand, the Knicks reached them for the latter one and showed their interest in bringing him on board, whereas Charlotte Hornets showed their interest in the center position player Myles Turner.

Initially, there were rumors about his career since he was bound to a contract with the Pacers until 2025; moreover, recently, he had some downs in his career as well, and the difference could be easily seen by comparing his 20’s stats with 21’s. KNICKS, WIZARDS, AND NOW CELTICS, BUT WHO SUCCEEDED?

Although there were so many rumors regarding Malcolm’s trade, barely someone talked about the Celtics’ interest in Malcolm as the majority were pointing towards the Knicks and some towards the Wizards. 

On July 1, 2022, it was confirmed that the Celtics had acquired him. According to various sources, the trade took place in exchange for multiple players. Where Celtics received Malcolm Brogdon, and the Pacers received five players whose names are mentioned below.

  • Daniel Theis
  • Nik Stauskas
  • Malik Fitts
  • Juwan Morgan

In a tweet, Adrian Wojnarowski said, “The Celtics are sending Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, and a 2023 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.” Additionally, Wojnarowski tweeted again, saying, “Celtics are also including Nik Stauskas, Malik Fitts, and Juwan Morgan in the trade, sources tell ESPN.”

The threat to Malcolm Brogdon’s career with Indiana Pacers started after the teams moved towards acquiring Tyrese Halliburton from Sacramento, a point guard. This move clarified that the Pacers want to rebuild their team with Halliburton.

Nevertheless, Malcolm Brogdon has proven himself as one of the best point guards and shooting guards and will continue to leave marks on the court. Currently, no doubt that there is a downfall in his performance, but he has the potential to rise again.
